Bodyshop splurge!

I recently bought some sale items from the Body Shop and recieved a £10 off voucher (when spending £25).

Gift Package £25
I can be a little bit naughty with my skin and tend not to carry out a specific skincare regime so thought it was time to invest in some products!

I asked the lady in the shop what she skincare she advises for "normal" skin to which she thought the Vitamin E range would be best. This range includes all different types of product ranging from facial wash to eye cream.

I noticed in the shop that they had a £25 gift package including cleanser, toner, day cream, night cream and eye cream. This was fab for me as it was the starter kit that i need to perfect my skin care regime!
Also with the £10 off voucher it meant that the set was only £15 (bargain!)

Cleanser - £8
I tend to use a standard face wash to cleanse and remove makeup but after using this cleanser i don't think i'll be going back to just using the facewash. I apply the cleanser over my face and wash off with a warm cloth/flannel. This cleanser is so light and leaves your skin feeling well cleansed and fresh. It also has a lovely clean fragrance which i have found other cleansers lack.

Toner - £8
I haven't used a toner before so this was a first for me. I soak a cotton pad with the toner and apply after i have cleanse. The toner is SO refreshing and again leaves your skin feeling fresh and very clean.

Eye Cream- £10
I can't say i have noticed a massive difference using the eye cream as of yet but that doesn't mean it isn't doing it's job. I think i need to give this eye cream more time before i can completely review it but i must say it is again a very light product and brightens around my eye without making them feel heavy.

Day Cream - £4
I have tried so many different moisturisers/day creams which have been so heavy on my skin. I received a little sample of this day cream in last months Glossybox and fell in love with it straight away. I think this is possibly the lightest day cream i have ever applied! It leaves my skin feeling moisturised and hydrated without leaving a residue or a thick layer of product over my face - highly recommend this!

Night Cream - £4
I don't think i can fully review this product because i tend to forget to apply night cream. It is thicker than the day cream but again applies lovely onto the face. The following morning i woke feeling very moisturised and had a slight glow. I must remember to keep applying this product because i think with time this will give me the moisture that my face needs (especially now we're entering Winter).

Check out these products on the body shop website (www.thebodyshop.co.uk) or even better go into the shop and test them out! The package was a complete bargain at £15 (with the voucher) and worth every penny even at £25!

Leave a comment and let me know what you think of these products :)

Chocolate overload?

Today i decided to make yet another cake..

chocolate buttercream
I always seem to make cupcakes so fancied making a birthday cake for my boyfriends dads birthday!
Its quite difficult to know what type of cake to make for a man but soon figured i couldn't go wrong with chocolate.

I took the recipe from:
http://www.goodtoknow.co.uk/recipes/317254/Maltesers-chocolate-cake

finished cake
This was the finished cake! I didn't follow the recipe for decorating the cake as i used a standard buttercream icing instead of mascapone and choc fingers instead of maltesers! To decorate i used some chocolate sprinkles, chocolate fingers and flowerpaste butterflies.

Lets just hope it tastes good!!..

Cupcake fun!

As i have mentioned in my first post i have a huge love for making (and eating) cakes, all different cakes but especially cupcakes.

I have been using every excuse to make cupcakes for any occassion possible as i just love love the decorating part (hence the name for my blog: Icedkate)

The other evening i was looking through my baking books and decided to make some pretty pink cupcakes just for the pure reason that the ingredients were in the cupboard and i was bored..

I wanted my first (well technically second) blog post to be focused on my hobby so you understand the meaning behind the blog's name and see some pictures of my cakes.

I'm aiming to create all different posts about (and hopefully soon videos) the cakes i make, equipment i have, recipes etc to share with you guys.

Let me know what you think, happy baking! X

The start of something new..

Little picture of me.
Hey!

So today i figured why don't i start a blog featuring on the things i LOVE.
I often read blogs and find them extremely inspirational and wanted to try a little piece of that myself.

I'm Kate, aged 22 and currently training to be a nurse.
I have a huge passion in beauty items, current trends, cupcakes, female lifestyle etc and wanted to share a little part of this passion with you guys.
This blog will focus on mainly "the life of a female!" and those little things that make me smile.

I hope that you will enjoy reading as much as i enjoy writing.
